45 years after becoming a member of the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR), the Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service at the Bulgarian Red Cross was delighted to undertake the challenging task to organize and host the 68th edition of the ICAR Congress 2016, which brought together nearly 300 representatives of rescue services from all around the world.
The event took place between October 19 and 22, in the oldest Bulgarian winter resort “Borovets” and EXCEDO Travel, in particular the company’s founder and CEO Manuela Dimitrova were invited to support the organization of and implement the 4-day Companion Program.
Although weather conditions thwarted ascending the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula, Mount Musala, during the first day of the program, participants still had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery of the next three days and visit some of the most iconic and memorable places in Bulgaria – the Seven Rila Lakes , the Rila Monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the 2019 European Capital of Culture – the city Plovdiv. Of course, the program would not have been complete without an obligatory culinary crash course, including homemade rakia and traditional local varieties of Bulgarian wine.
For us at EXCEDO to receive this recognition from an organization such as the Mountain Rescue Service at the Bulgarian Red Cross, with its decades of history, tradition and professionalism, is an honor and certainly tickles our ego
Thank you for your trust and congratulations on the exceptional organization effort of this major event!
